Bluejacket: In Harm's Way from Guadalcanal to Tokyo or "the Golden Gate...or Pearly Gate...By'48"
Published in Hardcover by Vantage Press (September, 1995)
Average review score:

A revealing story of unrelenting war at seaJohn Hutchinson was a Radioman First Class during the Pacific Campaign of World War II and in Bluejacket: In Harm's Way From Guadalcanal To Tokyo recounts his experiences and observations of those dramatic times. He tells of his own personal participation in the battles for the Solomons, the Marianas, the Philippines, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. A revealing story of unrelenting war at sea and a sailor's contribution toward the defeat of Japan, this totally engaging military biography reads as smoothly as any novel and as dramatically as any Hollywood film. Bluejacket is a welcome and much appreciated memoir and a very highly recommended contribution to the growing body of descriptive literature on the Pacific engagements of World War II.

Body Battles
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Average review score:

A terrific educatinal book for early readers. An early reader (5-6) will find this a challenging bit of fun to read, outside of the usual "see spot run" fare. Later readers (7+) will find it a good introduction to the biology of the human immune system. As my six yearold who has read the book 50+ times, says, "this book is super-sensational, what-a-creational deadly dangerous stuff"

Body Noises
Published in Hardcover by Random House (Merchandising) (November, 1983)
Average review score:

Body NoisesEver wonder why your bones crack, or what makes you hiccup? This book answers all your questions about the "mysterios" sounds your body makes. "Body Noises" is easy enough for a child to understand and is typed in fairly large font. There are also fun little pictures to make the learning experience even more enjoyable.

Bonnie Blair: Golden Streak (Achievers)
Published in Library Binding by Lerner Publications Company (October, 1994)
Average review score:

One of the better juvenile biographies of Bonnie BlairSpeed Skater Bonnie Blair is certainly one of America's greatest Olympic athletes. When she skated to triumph in Lillehammer in 1994, she became the only woman in American sports history to win gold medals in three consecutive Olympic Games. Counting her the one bronze medal she won, Blair won more medals than any other U.S. athlete in Winter Olympic history. But want made Blair popular was not just all those medals but also the fact that from start to finish she remained one of the happiest of athletes. In "Golden Streak," Cathy Breitenbucher start with Blair's accomplishments and then goes back to the beginning of the little girl who just wanted to skate with her older brothers and sisters. Breitenbucher devotes one chapter to each of Blair's four Olympics (she finished 8th in the 500 meters the first time; she won the event the next three Olympics). The book is illustrated with both black & white and color photographs of Blair throughout her career, including family photos. Breitenbucher does a nice job of recreating the atmosphere at each of Blair's Olympics; I watched videos of a couple of them earlier this year to get in the mood for Salt Lake City, so the details were semi-fresh in my mind. This is certainly one of the better juvenile biographies of Bonnie Blair.

Bounce Along With Big Bird/Book and Audio Cassette
Published in Hardcover by Golden Pr Audio (October, 1992)
Average review score:

Super Fun For Kids!I am an Elementary Physical Education teacher and have used the book, Bounce Along With Big Bird, in my curriculum for the past 12 years or so. This book and casssette helps kids get the exercise they need and they don't even know they are exercising. They are just having fun! My favorites are "Y'All Fall Down" and "Up Goes The Castle." "Y'All Fall Down" not only exercises the heart, but helps children practice their locomotor skills, such as hopping, jumping, and skipping. After each locomotor skill, Big Bird says, "Y'all Fall Down." Kids love to fall down. They have to fall and then get right back up again quickly. They have a blast with this song. "Up Goes The Castle" is a great cool down activity. It also helps the kids learn proper breathing techniques and has a great story line for the kids to listen to while resting. There are also other warm-up and exercise songs and activities in this book that are great. I highly recommend this book and cassette to all moms of young children and to all Pre-k-2 Elementary Physical Education Teachers and Pre-K-2 Classroom Teachers!

Brooke Tucker's Golden Christmas: Building a Miniature Masterpiece
Published in Hardcover by Kalmbach Publishing Company (August, 1996)
Average review score:

Excellent! This is a must have for any DIY miniaturists library. Even if you don't plan to reproduce the exact room settings, you can learn techniques and principles which can be used in any project. Her attention to detail is simply phenomenal. She even cautions you about the thickness of your pencil lead when drawing your plans, lest your components not fit together perfectly. And, should you never get around to actually "building" anything, it is still a great companion on a rainy day and a beautiful book for your collection.

Can't get my son to put it down!My 20 month old son LOVES this story about Guy Smiley and Big Bird. Big Bird just cannot seem to figure out that this is the Number one Game show and that the answers might be...tick tick ONE. He especially loves it when we animate Guy's voice. I'm ordering another as ours is getting tattered and God save us if we lost his favorite!
